Jeff Bezos
Jeff Bezos is not just known for being the founder of Amazon; he is also known for coining the term Artificial Intelligence. Time named him the person of the year in 1999 and he has plans to transform reading for the digital generation. His influence gave people from all around the world the opportunity to shop online.

He was born in 1964, graduated from Princeton University and founded Amazon in 1994. It was a bookstore initially and soon expanded to include everything possible: laptops, clothing, movies and toys.

Born on 29 January 1954, Oprah Winfrey is probably one of the most popular and influential women of our time. Oprah is an American TV host, media mogul, philanthropist, Academy nominated actress, book critic, and magazine publisher, not to mention one of the richest females in the entertainment industry. But it is not Oprah the actress or Oprah the richest female in entertainment that makes this powerful and fascinating women influential. It is her incredible heart that has garnered her praise, adoration and respect the world over.

Mayer Amschel Rothschild

Mayer Rothschild is the founder of modern banking. He introduced diversification, rapid communication, confidentiality and high volume to banking. He sold antiques, wineries, rare coins, and imported manufactured materials after leaving to take over his father’s business. Rothschild created the first international banking network, which had branches in London, Paris, Vienna and Naples. This empire spread throughout the world and today comprises real estate, venture capital, investment banking, corporate banking, private banking and trust, and asset management.

Henry Ford

Henry Ford is perhaps one of the most well-known businesspeople, mostly for quipping “People can have the Model T in any colour - so long as it’s black”. Henry Ford created assembly lines that were used for mass production of inexpensive goods: the concept is known as Fordism. Besides being known for creating the Model T, he also registered 161 patents. He and stockholders formed the Henry Ford Company in 1901. Henry’s vision was that the average American family should have transport and he priced the models at $825 in 1908. Soon, almost every American family had their own car.

1) Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft:

When speaking of resounding success and wealth, Bill Gates’ name automatically springs to mind. Bill Gates is an American business magnate and philanthropist who rose to fame after founding Microsoft with Paul Allen. Bill Gates has been on the world’s richest list several times, and is currently the third richest person in the world, and the second richest person in America, an honour he wishes he didn’t have.

While Gates was at Microsoft, he held positions of CEO and chief software architect, and remains the largest individual shareholder, with more than 8 percent of the common stock. In June 2006 Gates announced that he would be stepping down from full-time work at Microsoft to concentrate on philanthropy through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. 27 June 2008 was Gates’ last official full-time day at Microsoft. He remains as a part-time, non-executive chairman.

To be truly aware and a player in the corporate social responsibility field, a company has to care about diversity in the workplace, its environmental impact, to whom it is selling, ethics and public policy as well as the community it serves. Being socially responsible is a big accomplishment, and it is one that many companies are serious about.
